Reporting a bug

The quickest way is Settings → About → Contact support in the app, which fills in your app version for you. The most useful report includes:

Your device and operating system (for example, "Pixel 8, Android 15" or "Windows 11").
The app version, shown in Settings → About.
What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead.
A screenshot, or the puzzle file if you are happy to share it.

Common questions

Where are my puzzles stored?

On your device only. Nothing is uploaded or backed up by us, so keep copies of puzzles you care about — save or export them somewhere your own backups reach. Uninstalling the app removes the puzzles it stores.

Which file formats can I use?

Crossword Builder saves .ipuz and .puz files. It also makes two PDFs: one to solve (the empty grid and clues) and one to submit to an editor (the filled grid with your name, address and email, then the clues).

Can I use my own word list?

Yes. Import a plain text file with one word per line, letters only. To give a word a score from 0 to 99, add it after a semicolon, as in crossword;60. Autofill prefers higher-scored words.

Does the app collect my data?

Only anonymous crash reports, which never include your puzzles and can be turned off in Settings → Privacy. There are no accounts, ads or analytics. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.
